How to get to Østerbø Fjellstove
By car
From Oslo. Drive RV7 through Hallingdal. By Hagafoss, follow the road FV50 Hol-Aurland and drive around 65km.
From Bergen. Drive to Flåm and Aurland. Follow FV 50 towards Hol and drive for 30km.
There is ongoing roadwork in the Vassbygdi tunnel (the tunnel between Vassbygdi and Aurland), and it will therefore in periods be closed during the day between 07.00 and 19:30 opening every hour on the hour. They work 12 days , then pause 16 days. This will go on till summer 2026. For more information and maps, see the Norwegian Public Roads Administration website:
Bus
From Oslo/Bergen to Aurland.
Take the local bus or a taxi to Østerbø. The bus from Ål corresponds with the train from Oslo/Bergen.
Train and bus
Train to Flåm. Local bus from Flå to Østerbø.
Train and hiking. Take the train to Finse from Oslo or Bergen. Hike to Geiteryggen cabin, and from there via the Stainbergdalen valley to Østerbø Fjellstove.
The last stage through Aurlandsdalen valley is routed from Østerbø to Vassbygdi. Take the local bus from Vassbygdi back to Østerbø or Aurland/Flåm.
